The incident happened in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The child, who was accompanied by an adult, fell into the pool and began to sink.
A man nearby, named Roque Ivan Ocampo, heard the cries for help and didn’t hesitate to save Oscar.
Ocampo jumped into the pool while taking off his shoes and pulled the child out of the water, taking him to the ladder. The other adult nearby also helped get Oscar out of the pool.

“I started doing CPR. The boy wasn’t breathing, but I kept going, I insisted, until he started breathing again,” said Ocampo at a press conference.
Police arrived at the scene to find the boy breathing. He was taken out of the pool area to be treated by paramedics.
The child survived thanks to Ocampo’s actions.
“I don’t feel like a hero. I just did what needed to be done. I feel good. I’m blessed to be able to help that boy,” said Oscar’s rescuer.
